CLF Scientist appointed as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry
Professor Pavel Matousek FRSC
Professor Pavel Matousek, STFC Fellow, has been appointed as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC).
This honour is bestowed on individuals who made outstanding contributions to chemical sciences. Pavel’s research focuses on the development of advanced spectroscopic concepts including Kerr gated Raman spectroscopy and Spatially Offset Raman Spectroscopy underpinning a wide range of new applications such as non-invasive tissue analysis in disease diagnosis, security screening of containers and pharmaceutical process control. Recently, this research led to the formation of STFC’s spin out, Cobalt Light Systems Ltd, of which he is a co-founding director.
Pavel has published over 150 peer review articles and filed 10 patents. His honours include 2009 Charles Mann Award for Applied Raman Spectroscopy from the Federation of Analytical Chemistry and Spectroscopy Societies and shared 2002 and 2006 Meggers Awards from the Society for Applied Spectroscopy. He serves on the Editorial and Editorial Advisory Boards of Applied Spectroscopy, Analyst and Journal of Raman Spectroscopy. He is also a Visiting Professor of the University College London.
