Central Laser Facility aims to support its users through every stage of their
experiment, from concept to publication. Our enabling facilities support and
complement our five main laser facilities and our user community.
- The Plasma Physics group
performs theoretical and computational simulations of laser-plasma interactions
to support the Central Laser Facility and to explore new avenues of research.
- The Target Fabrication group
builds and characterises micro-targets for high power laser experiments.
- The Engineering team provides engineering
support for experiments, from design and manufacture to safety systems and diagnostic
Academic Access to Orion,
AWE’s high power laser facility, is managed through the Central Laser Facility.
Access to the Research Complex at Harwell to
use facilities including NMR and electron microscopes is available for CLF
users from UK institutions.
