Before carrying out the following actions you must obtain authorisation from the appropriate person:
- Work on or near cranes – permits to work required
- Operate lasers
- Work on electrical apparatus
- Work with hazardous substances
- Work with biological materials
- Work with ionising radiation
- Connect, disconnect or modify toxic or high pressure gas supplies and vents
- Lift or move heavy loads
- Use machine tools
- Work with cryogenic liquids
- Work with naked flames or an alternative heat source
- Work alone in any area where there are hazards
- Work long hours i.e. more than 12 hours in a day
- Enter or operate large vaccuum or pressure vessels
- Work on roofs
