Ric first joined the Central Laser Facility in 1995 before leaving to work in industry and run, amongst other things, the Photonics and Plastic Electronics Knowledge Transfer Network for a number of years. Ric then re-joined STFC in 2012 as a Business Development Manager. He now has 29 years of experience in R&D, commercial and business development in advanced photonics based technologies under his belt, which ultimately earned him his professorship.
Taking this into consideration, the Department of Engineering, Environment and Computing at Coventry University awarded Ric the Professorship in recognition of his impact in photonics and in particular industrial applications of lasers.
“I am really pleased and honoured to be appointed visiting Professor at Coventry," Ric shared. “through it we will be able to further strengthen our links with Coventry, the Midlands Manufacturing Hub and the High Value Manufacturing Catapult Centres".
