Conner Barker shaking hands with Andy WardThe PhD was entitled “Investigation of the Optical Properties of Atmospheric Aerosol Using Ultraviolet Light and Dual-Optical Trapping". The work builds on a series of direct access and programme access applications to the CLF 's Octopus laser from Prof Martin King and Prof Andy Ward.

As usual with these examinations, the thesis was “recommended for acceptance after some very minor corrections." Connor, often his own worst critic, said he actually quite enjoyed his viva! He is now doing those minor corrections, alongside a small project for Lin Wang, whilst looking for his next adventure in science.

We wish him the best of luck for the future.
