The Malcolm Haines Prize is presented by the IOP Plasma Physics Group every two years to an early career researcher based in the UK or Ireland for their contributions and leadership in plasma physics.

Dr Eva Los has been recognised for her work on experimental tests of strong field quantum electrodynamics (QED). This work, which started during her PhD was recently published in Nature Communications.

Eva and her team used CLF's Gemini facility for this work - an example of how the CLF supports a broad range of curiosity-driven science and applications. A detailed story about this work is here.
